In Which We Impose Some Order

perfection-37__605One of the things about the old blog which was alternately frustrating and kind of fun was the fact that like Topsy,  it just growed.   There was never really a plan as to how it should be organized and,  as much as I’d like to deny it,  I think that showed.

Now that we have a new home,  I’d like to start as we mean to go on,  which means we need to establish some organization at the beginning.  One way to do that is to designate some post topic categories under which we can organize posts.  Here’s what we’ve got so far.

Marketing Mondays – As the name implies,  most Monday posts will be all about some aspect of Marketing.   It may be advertising or selling on social media or generating word of mouth but, whatever the topic,  if it’s under the Marketing Monday header,  you can be sure the topic of the post will be Marketing related.

Time Travel Tuesday – I’m a history buff and love delving into the history of embroidery and crafting and quilting.   Time Travel Tuesday is my chance to do that.   One post might recount a story I heard from our company owners,  who’ve been in embroidery since 1974.  Another might examine the history of a particular quilting techinique.  Time Travel Tuesday is all about going back in time and seeing how we got to today.

Wisdom Wednesday –  I’m extraordinarily lucky to have connections with a lot of very knowledgeable and wise people who work in the various creative vocations we serve.    Wisdom Wednesday is where,  I hope,  I’ll be able to persuade some of these people to share what they know here on Threaducate.

Trendy Thursday – What’s the Pantone color forecast for next Spring?  How do we work with the mania people seem to have for performance wear?  What one item will sell really well next Summer?   Trendy Thursday is where we examine trends in the market place and the decoration disciplines we all practice.

Featured Friday – On EmbroideryTalk,  there was a series called “Friday Blog Round-Up” where I would spotlight blog posts and articles that I thought were useful and interesting.   We’ve imported this to the new blog,  but now we’re calling it Featured Friday,  since we’ll be featuring stories we think it would be helpful for our readers to read.

Obviously,  not every post that’s written will be germane to the categories listed above,   but this gives us a place to start.  If you have any suggestions for other topics or categories we should consider,  please share them in the comments.
